Shake, Rattle and Roll on a Saturday morning was a massive success with our Little Dude. Shaking, banging and thumping things are his favourite things. So to be given a box full of instruments with a room full of other noisy Little Dudes meant Charlie was one happy little guy. In the above photo, he was clearly just working out the melody for his new composition.
With a fine selection of music – including reggae, country and blues – pumping out the amp, the babies instantly dived into the boxes to pull out maracas, drums, castanets and bells.
Beth, who led the group, started off with the blues tune Shake, Rattle and Roll and got everyone singing along. The rest of the songs were similarly upbeat and the lyrics were beamed onto the wall so everyone could join in. All the songs were really funky and not too babyish, which appealed to me a lot.
At only £3 per family unit, this was a really enjoyable hour and well worth the money. It was nice to be in a grown-up setting – even if it was 10.30am on a Saturday morning.
The room was really full and pretty hot, but I believe it’s usually held in a larger room. We’ll definitely go back one week for another round of singing and drooling (but that last one’s just the babies). There is also a later class for toddlers.
